# Reading Tracker

> Track your progress through every book and chapter of the Bible with a visual grid that makes it satisfying to see how far you have come.

# Reading Tracker

The reading tracker gives you a visual map of your journey through the entire Bible — all 66 books, every chapter, from Genesis to Revelation. It is deeply satisfying to watch those little squares fill in over time.

## What Is the Reading Tracker?

The reading tracker is a page that shows every book of the Bible with a grid of numbered squares — one for each chapter. When you read a chapter, you tap it to mark it as read. Over time, you build a beautiful picture of your Bible reading journey.

## How to Get There

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the menu">
    Tap the **hamburger menu** (the three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of any screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap 'Reading Tracker'">
    In the menu, tap **Reading Tracker**. The tracker page opens with all 66 books displayed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How the Book Grid Works

The tracker is organized into two sections: **Old Testament** (39 books) and **New Testament** (27 books).

Each book shows:

* The book name (for example, "Genesis" or "Matthew")
* A grid of numbered squares — one for each chapter in that book

For example, Genesis has 50 squares (because it has 50 chapters), while Philemon has just 1 square (because it has 1 chapter).

The squares come in two colors:

* **Gray** — You have not read this chapter yet
* **Highlighted (green)** — You have read this chapter

## Marking a Chapter as Read

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the book">
    Scroll through the tracker to find the book you just read from — for example, "Psalm" or "John."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap the chapter number">
    Find the numbered square for the chapter you read and tap it. It will turn green to show it has been marked as read.
  </Step>

  <Step title="That is it!">
    Your progress is saved automatically. No need to tap a save button.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  You can mark chapters in any order. You do not have to read the Bible from beginning to end. Read chapter 5 before chapter 1? No problem! Mark whatever you have read, whenever you read it.
</Tip>

## Unmarking a Chapter

Made a mistake? No worries.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the chapter you want to unmark">
    Scroll to the book and find the green highlighted chapter square.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap it again">
    Tap the highlighted square and it will go back to gray, removing the "read" mark.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Progress Stats

At the top of the reading tracker, you will see three progress bars that show how far along you are:

| Progress Bar | What It Measures |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Old Testament** | What percentage of OT chapters you have read (out of 929 total chapters across 39 books) |
| **New Testament** | What percentage of NT chapters you have read (out of 260 total chapters across 27 books) |
| **Total Bible** | Your overall percentage across the entire Bible (1,189 chapters total) |

Each progress bar shows the percentage as a number and as a visual bar that fills up as you read more.

## Auto-Marking from Reading Plans

Here is a wonderful time-saver: when you complete a day in a **Bible Reading Plan** that includes a Scripture reference, GodFocus automatically marks that chapter as read in your tracker. You do not need to come here and mark it again — it is already done for you.

## A Few Things to Know

* **Your progress syncs to your account** — Log in on any device and your reading progress is there
* **No rush** — The tracker is designed to stay with you for years. Whether you are reading through the Bible for the first time or the fifth, it gives you a clear picture of where you have been
* **Every chapter counts** — Whether you read it in a plan, at church, during personal study, or listening to an audio Bible, mark it here

<Tip>
  Some people like to set a goal of reading the whole Bible in a year. Others take their time over several years. There is no wrong pace. The reading tracker works for both approaches — it simply shows you where you have been and where you are going.
