# Scripture Search

> Type what is on your heart and find relevant Bible verses instantly. Search by topic, keyword, or meaning across the entire Berean Standard Bible.

# Scripture Search

Sometimes you do not know the exact verse — you just know what you are feeling. Scripture Search lets you type in plain, everyday language and find Bible verses that speak directly to your situation. It is like having a friend who knows the whole Bible and can point you to exactly the right passage.

## What Is Scripture Search?

Scripture Search is a powerful tool that finds Bible verses based on what you type. You can enter a feeling ("I'm anxious"), a topic ("forgiveness"), or even a phrase ("God's love for me"), and GodFocus will find the most relevant passages from the Berean Standard Bible.

## How to Get There

There are two ways to access Scripture Search:

1. **From the home screen** — Tap the **search icon** in the top-right corner of the home screen
2. **From the hamburger menu** — You can also find it through the app's navigation

## Searching for Verses (Step by Step)

    In the search bar at the top, type whatever you are feeling or looking for. You do not need to know a specific book or chapter — just type naturally. For example:

    * "I'm feeling anxious"
    * "I need strength"
    * "Teach me about forgiveness"
    * "Verses about hope"
    * "Help with anger"

    Tap the **Search** button or press Enter on your keyboard. GodFocus will search the Bible for you.

  <Step title="Browse your results">
    Results appear as cards, each showing:

    * The **Scripture reference** (for example, "Philippians 4:6-7") in green
    * The **full verse text** so you can read it right there
    * Two action buttons: **Reflect** and **Journal**

## Suggested Topics

Not sure what to search for? When you first open Scripture Search, you will see suggestion buttons you can tap to search instantly:

* I'm feeling anxious
* I need strength
* Teach me about forgiveness
* I feel lonely
* Verses about hope
* Help with anger
* I'm going through grief
* Patience in waiting

Just tap any suggestion and the search runs automatically.

<Tip>
  Search for how you actually feel, not what you think you "should" search for. "I'm scared" is a perfectly good search. God's Word meets you where you are.

## How the Search Works

GodFocus uses AI-powered semantic search to understand the meaning behind your words. This means:

* You do not need to use the exact words that appear in the Bible
* Searching "I'm worried about money" will find verses about trust, provision, and anxiety — even if those verses never use the word "money"
* The search looks across the entire **Berean Standard Bible** (31,000+ verses)
* Results are ranked by relevance, with the most relevant passages shown first

## Examples of Good Searches

## What You Can Do with Results

Each verse in your results gives you two options:

### Reflect

Tap the **Reflect** button (with the flame icon) to open a guided session with that verse loaded. The verse will be displayed during your session so you can meditate on it through Speak, Silence, and Seek.

### Journal

Tap the **Journal** button (with the book icon) to open a journal entry with the verse pre-loaded. The verse text and reference will be in your entry, ready for you to write your thoughts and response.

    Whether you reflect or journal, take time to sit with what you found. Ask God what He wants to say to you through this verse.

  Scripture Search is especially helpful when you are going through a hard season and want God's Word to meet you exactly where you are. Try it first thing in the morning to find a verse to carry with you all day.
