Your Daily GodFocus Routine

You do not need to spend hours in the app. A meaningful daily devotional with GodFocus can take as little as 5 minutes — or as long as you like. This guide walks you through a complete daily routine so you know exactly what to do when you open the app each day.

The Big Picture

Here is what a typical day with GodFocus looks like:
  1. Open the app and read your daily verse
  2. Start a guided session (Speak, Silence, Seek)
  3. Journal what God showed you
  4. Check your prayer list
  5. Read a chapter from your current plan
  6. Watch your streak grow
You do not have to do all of these every single day. Even doing one or two makes a difference. But when you have the time, here is the full flow:

Step-by-Step Daily Routine

1

Open the app and read your daily verse

When you open GodFocus, you land on the Home screen. Right at the top, you will see today’s Verse of the Day — a fresh Bible verse with a devotional thought. Read it slowly. Let it settle in your heart. If the verse stirs something in you, tap the Reflect button to jump straight into a guided session with that verse loaded.
2

Start a guided session

Tap the Session tab (the flame icon at the bottom) and choose Connect Session. This walks you through three steps:
  • Speak — Talk to God. Tell Him what is on your mind. Be honest. One minute is the default, but add more time if you need it.
  • Silence — Be still. Rest in God’s love. Ask the Holy Spirit what He wants you to focus on. Listen for whatever comes to mind — a Bible book, a topic, an image, a name.
  • Seek — Read God’s Word. Search for a verse right in the app, or follow up on whatever came to mind during Silence.
Each step has its own timer. When one finishes, GodFocus gently moves you to the next.
3

Journal your thoughts

After your session, GodFocus prompts you to journal. Tap GodFocus Journal to open a new entry. Write down:
  • What did God say?
  • What does it mean?
  • What should I do about it?
Pick a mood (Happy, Neutral, or Sad) and add a tag if you like. Then tap Save. This only takes a minute or two, but it makes a huge difference — you will have a written record of God’s faithfulness to look back on.
4

Check your prayer list

Tap the Prayers tab (the heart icon) to see your prayer list.
  • Add new prayers — If something came up during your session, tap Add Prayer to write it down.
  • Celebrate answered prayers — If God has answered something, tap Answered to move it to your Answered tab. Take a moment to thank Him!
  • Review active prayers — Scroll through your active prayers and lift them up to God, even briefly.
5

Read a chapter from your current plan

Tap the Plans tab (the book icon) to see your active reading plans. Tap Continue to pick up where you left off.Read the day’s Scripture and devotional content. Answer the reflection questions if you have time. When you are done, tap Mark Complete to advance to the next day.GodFocus automatically marks the chapter in your Reading Tracker, so you do not need to do it manually.
6

Check your reading progress (optional)

If you want to see how far you have come in your Bible reading, open the hamburger menu and tap Reading Tracker. Watch those little squares fill in as you read more and more of God’s Word.
7

Watch your streak grow

Go back to the Home screen and look at your stats: Sessions this month and Current Streak in days. Every day you complete a session and journal, your streak grows by one. Over time, you will earn streak badges — 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and eventually a full year!

A Shorter Routine (For Busy Days)

Do not have much time today? Here is the minimum:
1

Read the daily verse

Open the app, read the verse on the home screen. 30 seconds.
2

Do a quick 1-minute session

Tap Session, choose Connect Session, and go through Speak, Silence, and Seek at 1 minute each. That is just 3 minutes.
3

Save a quick journal entry

Write one sentence about what God showed you. Pick a mood. Save. Done. 1 minute.
That is a complete devotional in under 5 minutes. Your streak still counts!
The best daily devotional is the one you actually do. A short session every day is far more powerful than a long session once a week. Consistency is what builds your relationship with God — not perfection.

Setting a Daily Reminder

Want help remembering to open the app each day? Set up a daily reminder:
  1. Open the hamburger menu (three lines in the top-left corner)
  2. Tap Daily Reminders
  3. Toggle on Enable Daily Reminders
  4. Choose what time you want to be reminded (in 15-minute increments)
  5. GodFocus will send you a push notification at that time each day
If you have already completed your session for the day, the notification will instead remind you what God said by showing the title of your most recent journal entry.
Many people set their reminder for first thing in the morning — before checking messages or social media. Starting your day with God’s Word changes the whole tone of your day.

Why This Routine Works

This daily routine works because it covers all the ways we connect with God:
  • Speaking — Talking to Him honestly (prayer)
  • Listening — Being still and hearing His voice (silence)
  • Reading — Studying His Word (Bible)
  • Writing — Capturing what He says (journaling)
  • Remembering — Tracking prayers and seeing them answered (prayer list)
You are not just “using an app.” You are building a real, daily relationship with your Creator. And GodFocus is here to help you every step of the way.
