Onboarding

When you create your GodFocus account, a short onboarding flow walks you through setting up your devotional practice. It takes less than a minute and helps GodFocus personalize your experience from day one.

The Onboarding Steps

Progress dots at the top of the screen show you where you are in the flow. There are five steps in total.
1

Welcome — Enter your name

GodFocus greets you and asks: What should we call you? Enter your first name so the app can greet you personally on the Home Dashboard. Tap Continue to move on.
2

Goals — What brings you here?

Choose the goal that best describes why you are here. This helps GodFocus tailor your experience:
  • Daily Prayer — Spend consistent time talking with God.
  • Bible Study — Read and reflect on Scripture daily.
  • Silence & Stillness — Practice being still before God.
  • All of the Above — A balanced daily devotional practice.
Select one and tap Continue.
3

Scripture Need — What's on your heart?

Tell GodFocus what you are going through right now, and it will show you a relevant Bible verse. Options include:
  • Anxiety or Worry
  • Seeking Direction
  • Need Strength
  • Growing in Gratitude
  • Deepening My Faith
  • Loving Others Better
When you select an option, a personalized verse appears on screen. You can also skip this step if you prefer.
4

Reminder — Set your daily time

Choose what time you would like to receive a daily push notification reminding you to spend time with God. The default is 7:00 AM, but you can pick any time that fits your schedule. You can always change this later in Settings.
5

Done — You're all set!

GodFocus confirms your setup and shows your personalized verse one more time. Tap Start First Session to dive right into your first guided prayer session.
You can update your name and reminder time at any time in Settings. Your goal and scripture selections are saved locally to help shape your experience.

What Happens Behind the Scenes

During onboarding, GodFocus:
  • Saves your display name to your account so every screen greets you personally.
  • Enables daily reminders at the time you chose.
  • Detects your timezone automatically so notifications arrive at the right local time.
  • Stores your goal and scripture need to personalize future sessions.

Skipping Onboarding

If you prefer to explore on your own, you can tap Skip for now on the reminder step. You will go straight to your first session, and you can always configure reminders later in Settings.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
