Reading Tracker

The reading tracker gives you a visual map of your journey through the entire Bible — all 66 books, every chapter, from Genesis to Revelation. It is deeply satisfying to watch those little squares fill in over time.

What Is the Reading Tracker?

The reading tracker is a page that shows every book of the Bible with a grid of numbered squares — one for each chapter. When you read a chapter, you tap it to mark it as read. Over time, you build a beautiful picture of your Bible reading journey.

How to Get There

1

Open the menu

Tap the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of any screen.
2

Tap 'Reading Tracker'

In the menu, tap Reading Tracker. The tracker page opens with all 66 books displayed.

How the Book Grid Works

The tracker is organized into two sections: Old Testament (39 books) and New Testament (27 books). Each book shows:
  • The book name (for example, “Genesis” or “Matthew”)
  • A grid of numbered squares — one for each chapter in that book
For example, Genesis has 50 squares (because it has 50 chapters), while Philemon has just 1 square (because it has 1 chapter). The squares come in two colors:
  • Gray — You have not read this chapter yet
  • Highlighted (green) — You have read this chapter

Marking a Chapter as Read

1

Find the book

Scroll through the tracker to find the book you just read from — for example, “Psalm” or “John.”
2

Tap the chapter number

Find the numbered square for the chapter you read and tap it. It will turn green to show it has been marked as read.
3

That is it!

Your progress is saved automatically. No need to tap a save button.
You can mark chapters in any order. You do not have to read the Bible from beginning to end. Read chapter 5 before chapter 1? No problem! Mark whatever you have read, whenever you read it.

Unmarking a Chapter

Made a mistake? No worries.
1

Find the chapter you want to unmark

Scroll to the book and find the green highlighted chapter square.
2

Tap it again

Tap the highlighted square and it will go back to gray, removing the “read” mark.

Progress Stats

At the top of the reading tracker, you will see three progress bars that show how far along you are:
Progress BarWhat It Measures
Old TestamentWhat percentage of OT chapters you have read (out of 929 total chapters across 39 books)
New TestamentWhat percentage of NT chapters you have read (out of 260 total chapters across 27 books)
Total BibleYour overall percentage across the entire Bible (1,189 chapters total)
Each progress bar shows the percentage as a number and as a visual bar that fills up as you read more.

Auto-Marking from Reading Plans

Here is a wonderful time-saver: when you complete a day in a Bible Reading Plan that includes a Scripture reference, GodFocus automatically marks that chapter as read in your tracker. You do not need to come here and mark it again — it is already done for you.

A Few Things to Know

  • Your progress syncs to your account — Log in on any device and your reading progress is there
  • No rush — The tracker is designed to stay with you for years. Whether you are reading through the Bible for the first time or the fifth, it gives you a clear picture of where you have been
  • Every chapter counts — Whether you read it in a plan, at church, during personal study, or listening to an audio Bible, mark it here
Some people like to set a goal of reading the whole Bible in a year. Others take their time over several years. There is no wrong pace. The reading tracker works for both approaches — it simply shows you where you have been and where you are going.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
